As a result of this change all requests for birth, death, marriage and civil partnership certificates must now be made to the Bishop Auckland office. All personal requests will be handled the same day although you may have to wait upto 20 minutes. Other requests may take up to 5 working days to process.
No other aspect of the service is affected so you can continue to give notice of marriage, birth, death or civil partnership at a local office or one within the County of your choice.
In partnership with the General Register Office, Durham County Council is responsible for a number of services that are delivered by Registration Staff via Register Offices. The services are extremely important and involve contact with members of the Public at key stages of their lives.
