Species Protected By Law
Wildlife legislation exists to protect birds, animals and plants.
It is the reponsibility of an individual, as well as developers and the local Planning Authority, to ensure they abide by the law.
For up-to-date information on wildlife legislation, contact the Joint Nature Conservation Committee or Naturenet.
The Durham Biodiversity Action Plan is a series of workplans to help species and habitats in the Durham area that are considered to be under threat locally, nationally or internationally.
