Video Conferencing Access to Services (VCATS)
The website is currently a 'secure resource' which is plays a part in the intial set up of a council project designed to explore the potential for using video conferencing technology to enable public access to council services.
The project aims to place video conferencing technology in five community venues in County Durham, with the same technology being put into county, district and borough council offices. Eventually this technology will enable the people of County Durham to access council services 'face to face' from community venues.
The project will also raise awareness in councils and other public sector organisations of the potential for using video conferencing technology and should also add value to the venues themselves, regarding the links it can open up, for example, with schools, who all have video conferencing equipment.
VCATS partners can access the website (using the username and password provided to them) via: www.vcats.org.uk.
